Schwinn Evolution: Simply the Best
When it comes to the best spinning bike, many believe it is the Schwinn Evolution.
Indoor Cycle If you’ve been to a health club and done a spinning class there, chances are, that’s the unit you used. It is so durable that it is capable of handling six top eight different riders, doing hour long spinning classes, seven days a week.
So for a home choice, going with the Schwinn Evolution is a no brainer for those of us who have used it.
Noticeable for the big red star on the flywheel, it’s frame is robotic welded out of a single frame, has a stainless steels seat post, seat slider and handlebar extension tube.
The inertia drive system is comprised of a 38 lb flywheel and direct drive gearing that gives the Schwinn Evolution the closest feel to a real bike on the road that you will find.
Something else neat about the Schwinn Evolution is the Smart Release system, which offers all the benefits of a fixed gear with a unique coasting feature. The device is built around a drive system chain using a forged steel crank and ISIS oversized bottom bracket.
Because of the solid, reliable quality and stability of each part, the Schwinn Evolution has the smoothest pedal action I have ever experienced.
Introduced in 2006 and built with great precision, the Schwinn Evolution costs a pretty penny new, up to a couple grand.
By the way, there really is no Schwinn Bicycle Company. That company, which had been around since 1895, went bankrupt in 2001 and now the name is used on a variety of bikes, mostly low end. The one exception is the Schwinn Evolution indoor spinning bike, which is marketed by a private company.
My solution: Buy one refurbished. You can search around the Internet for Schwinn Evolution and find refurbished models available for hundreds less than you’d pay for new.
